iFixit is the world’s largest online community for repair. We’re on a mission to empower everyone to repair their stuff—with parts, tools, and thousands of free how-to guides.
iFixit is the largest online community for repair and shows people all over the world how they can easily fix things themselves – whether it’s a cell phone, laptop or coffee maker.
More and more technology in our everyday lives also means more and more electronic waste: Almost two million tons are produced each year in Germany alone. That is equivalent to the weight of 1.35 million cars.
The iFixit team is recognized by the jury as an essential game changer with their repair platform. In addition to empowering product users with concrete instructions on how to repair products, iFixit also impacts their users‘ mindset. This is because they inspire product users and owners to think about the status quo of the reparability and longevity of products and also accompany them with information in the process towards sustainable purchasing decisions. The jury sees this transparency as iFixit’s essential contribution to the transformation toward a green economy. In addition, the jury honored iFixit’s commitment to the right to repair and against the repair monopolies of manufacturers. This makes Matthias Mayer and Matthias Huisken essential game changers in Europe who will pave the way for many after them.
