With the support of millions of microbes, we founded fairment in 2015. We ferment almost everything that fell from the tree or shot out of the ground at one, two, three or later. With our DIY Starter Kits, your own kitchen becomes a cultured metropolis and you can easily make everything from yogurt to kombucha to wild ferments yourself.
Our Fermentations Starter Kit turns stinky vegetables into living superfoods. Lactic fermenting vegetables is an easy and eco-friendly way to preserve and enhance seasonal vegetables naturally. Unlike methods such as pasteurization/boiling, this requires no preservatives, electricity or refrigeration. The many industrious microbes pre-digest the vegetables, making them more digestible for us. It also contains unique flavors, natural yeasts and bacteria, and lots of important nutrients.

We have set ourselves the goal of bringing fermented foods, living cultures and knowledge about fermentation back into kitchens. Fermentation, also known as „cooking without heat“, is a valuable way to preserve food and thus keep it for years. So food surplus, food that is no longer quite fresh, and food scraps no longer simply end up in the trash. The process of fermentation and storage does not require any added energy. In addition, fermentation is easy on the wallet: With our DIY Starter Kits, you can ferment an almost infinite number of vegetables, brew kombucha, or make yogurt.

Our company philosophy is fairplay: for the sake of the environment, customers, suppliers and the fairment family. From day 1 we have been working together with the Delphin-Werkstätten, an institution for handicapped people, and support social projects in Berlin with a variety of activities. In our store, everything is as fairly traded as possible, exclusively organic and mostly vegan. We place special emphasis on the careful selection of high-quality ingredients and the use of sustainable and environmentally friendly packaging materials. In 2021, fairment will become climate neutral with its entire product range.
It is a personal concern of ours to convey to our customers the acquired as well as the already existing knowledge from over 8000 years of tradition in a simple way. We are passionate about this goal and now support Germany’s largest online community on the subject of fermentation and kombucha brewing.
