General Description

Duck® toilet gel biodegradable formula enables maximum reach and outstanding cleaning thanks to its innovative formula and packaging. The iconic bottle is made with 50% Recovered Coastal Plastic and is independently certified as recyclable as per Recyclass standards.

Sustainability Impact

Consumers trust Duck® toilet gel to provide outstanding cleaning. This product was designed to deliver a more sustainable alternative that combines total hygiene with a biodegradable formula, eliminating limescale and even tough stains. The curvature of the iconic neck design guarantees maximum reach, but also presented a challenge to increase PCR (post-consumer recycled plastic) while maintaining the HDPE bottle integrity.

We conducted repeated testing to increase our PCR content and have launched in February 2023 a bottle that is made with 53% Recovered Coastal Plastic („RCP“). RCP is a particular type of PCR, since is plastic collected on land within 50 km of an ocean, in countries without a formal waste collection infrastructure to prevent it from reaching the ocean or landfills.

With our global partnership with Plastic Bank® we support the plastic collection from coastal areas reducing is environmental impact but the partnership has also benefitted over 24,000 local collectors and their families. Community members exchange plastic waste for secure income and access to life-improving benefits such as health, work and life insurance, digital connectivity, grocery vouchers, social and fintech services.

Duck packaging has been designed for greater recyclability after thorough recycling performance review. The product now has a label that gives us a B rating recycling score as per Recyclass standards.

Our Duck® toilet gel is filled and assembled at our Europlant flagship factory. Located in the Netherlands, is home to SC Johnson’s first company-owned wind turbine that was installed there in 2009.
